Shiori is run by John. He has done Japan twice as a traveler, the second time knowing what the first time got wrong, and he spends a good part of most weeks reading other people's Japan itineraries and telling them where the days break.
The name is the Japanese word for the little booklet you make before a big trip, the tabi no shiori. That is the product: your trip, researched wide, written down properly, and handed to you as something you can book from.
How it gets made. The research is done with the best travel AI available, which goes wider than any person could by hand: every route, season, transfer, and reservation window around your dates. Then John reads all of it, keeps what earns its place, and signs what ships. His judgment is what you are paying for, and it is the reason the brief comes back in days rather than the weeks it would take to do the reading yourself.
What it is not. Shiori does not book anything for you and does not stand behind a phone during your trip. The brief, the field guide, and the concierge are built so you do not need either.
